About the event
Drawings of Brazilian flora by artists from the Paraná Botanical Illustration Center are on display at Solar da Cultura (formerly Solar do Rosário), a branch of the Curitiba Cultural Foundation in the city's historic center. The exhibition was opened on Tuesday (19/11) by Mayor Rafael Greca, in the presence of the 17 illustrators who are exhibiting.
“This is a fruitful and very interesting work of rescuing Brazilian flora, in its most peculiar and exotic aspects, from the depths of the Amazon rainforest to the vast fields of Paraná, passing through our native araucaria forest, the cerrado, and the variety of orchids,” said Greca, comparing the artists to the great naturalists of the 18th and 19th centuries.
The drawings depict leaves, flowers and fruits of various species of plants native to all regions of Brazil. The works are made using various techniques: watercolor, colored pencil, Indian ink, graphite and oil on canvas.
“The exhibition is a great opportunity to showcase our work, to promote Brazilian flora and contribute to its preservation,” highlights Alessandro Cândido, director of the Paraná Botanical Illustration Center. Service
