Alessandro Cândido

Artist

Graduated in Biological Sciences from the Centro Educacional Integrado CEI, 2011, in Campo Mourão. He took a basic course in botanical illustration at the Centro de Ilustração Botânica do Paraná in 2014.

In 2016, I participated in the Margaret Mee Fellowship Program at Kew Gardens, in Richmond, London, United Kingdom, where I had the opportunity to work with renowned botanical illustrator Christabel King, honing my skills and unique illustration style.

Professional illustrator since 2014, recognized for the quality of his works and for his contribution to the promotion of botanical art. In addition, I was awarded in the prestigious Illustraciencia competition in 2015, which recognizes outstanding scientific illustrations from around the world.

Professor of regular and intensive courses in Botanical Illustration since 2016.

Participant in the National Exhibition of ‘Botanical Art Worldwide’ in 2018, an exhibition that brings together works by botanical artists from different countries, promoting cultural exchange and international recognition.

Director of the Botanical Illustration Center of Paraná since 2022.

Artist selected for the Oak Spring Garden Foundation's 2024 artist-in-residence program, a prestigious program that offers botanical artists the opportunity to create scientifically and aesthetically accurate works for a period of up to three weeks at the Oak Spring estate in Virginia, USA.
