Maura R. Piccoli

Artist

She holds a degree in Painting and Geometric Drawing from the School of Music and Fine Arts of Paraná. Since 1998, after taking a course with Diana Carneiro at the Municipal Botanical Museum of Curitiba, she has dedicated herself entirely to botanical illustration.

In 2000, together with other illustrators, she founded the Botanical Illustration Center of Paraná – CIBP.

Since 2006, she has been a member of the National Union of Brazilian Scientific Illustrators. In 2011, she began the Distance Learning Diploma Course of The Society of Botanical Artists, in the United Kingdom; she graduated with Distinction in 2013.

She has participated in several exhibitions in Brazil and abroad, including the 8th UN Conference on Biodiversity, 2005; the Itinerant Exhibition of Scientific Illustrators of Brazil; the Arte & Artistas Exhibition, MASP, São Paulo; Botanical Scientific Illustration Exhibition, La Plata, Argentina, 2013.

He has received several awards, including the Master Gold Medal at the Integration Best Art Show, Miami, Florida, USA, 2004; Honorable Mention at the IX Margaret Mee Botanical Illustration Contest, by the Margaret Mee Botanical Foundation, 2001; third place at the VII Latin American Botanical Congress and the IV Meeting of Botanical Gardens of Latin America and the Caribbean, DF, Mexico, 1998. His works have been published in the book Cogumelos da Mata Atlântica, in magazines, posters, cards, labels, calendars and folders.
